- Design & Mechanism: The bottom of the chamber base features a deep, recessed collection pocket (silt-trap chamber). This section allows mud, sand, grit, and other heavy debris to settle and accumulate safely away from the main flow.
- Benefits: Prevents debris from blocking downstream pipelines and makes routine cleaning, maintenance, and desilting highly efficient.
- Primary Application & Installation: Mainly used in stormwater and rainwater drainage systems. Note: During construction, a matching pit must be pre-excavated in the trench to accommodate the deep silt-trap base.

Selection & Application Strategy for Engineering Projects
- Wastewater Systems: Silt-trap inspection chambers can occasionally be adapted for use in wastewater systems if required.
- Stormwater Systems: Flow-channel inspection chambers are strictly prohibited in stormwater systems, as they cannot capture the heavy grit and sediment typical of rainwater runoff, leading to severe pipeline blockages.
- General Recommendation: Inspection chambers equipped with silt traps provide unparalleled convenience for long-term maintenance, clearing, and dredging. In practice and modern engineering layouts, specifying silt-trap structures is highly recommended to extend the service life of the entire piping network.
