Hydrostatic pressure testing is critical after the installation of PE water supply pipes. This inspection helps identify pipe defects, verify compliance with installation standards, and confirm that the pipeline can meet the designed working pressure requirements. Therefore, hydrostatic pressure testing is an indispensable step in construction.

We have summarized five testing standards for PE water supply pipe hydrostatic pressure tests to support quality inspection during PE water supply pipe construction projects:
- Before hydrostatic pressure testing, the PE water supply pipeline shall be fully filled with water and kept saturated for no less than 12 hours.
- The test pressure of the hydrostatic test shall be no less than 1.5 times the working pressure of the PE water supply pipe, and the test pressure shall not be less than 0.8 MPa.
- The length of a single hydrostatic test section shall not exceed 1000 meters. For PE pipeline sections with fittings installed in the middle, the length of the hydrostatic test section shall not exceed 500 meters. If pipelines of different materials are adopted in one project, pressure testing shall be performed separately for each type of pipe.
- Pressurization shall be carried out by mechanical equipment equipped with metering devices. If spring pressure gauges are used, their accuracy class shall be no lower than 1.5. The measuring range shall be 1.3–1.5 times the test pressure, and the dial diameter shall be at least 15 cm.
- The test pipeline section shall exclude water hammer arresters. All valves integrated into the PE water supply piping system (such as outdoor fire hydrants) shall remain open.
These are the five core standards for hydrostatic pressure testing of PE water supply pipes. It is worth emphasizing that hydrostatic pressure testing serves as the final inspection after PE water supply pipe installation. This test directly affects the service life of PE pipelines and the maintenance cost in later operation. Hence, hydrostatic pressure testing must be implemented strictly in accordance with the above standards to guarantee construction quality of the pipeline system.
