BDV Series 3-Way Hydraulic Backflushing Control Valve for Media & Disc Filters

The BDV Series is a premium 3-way hydraulic backflushing control valve engineered for automated water filtration systems. Molded from high-strength, corrosion-proof engineered plastics, this valve flawlessly switches water flow directions during automated cleaning cycles for sand media and disc filters. Available in both angled and straight-flow configurations (including the 2″ DN50 BDV050AB model), it features a dual-chamber diaphragm design that ensures smooth operation, ultra-low pressure drop, and tight hydraulic sealing under tough field conditions.

Product Overview

The BDV Series Hydraulic Backflushing Valve is a dynamic 3-way directional valve specifically created for commercial filtration backwash manifolds. By integrating directly with automatic controllers and pilot solenoids, it seamlessly changes flow paths to isolate filter tanks and reverse water patterns, flushing trapped sand and particles out through the drain port without stopping the entire system’s performance.

Dual-Chamber Working Principle

The BDV series utilizes an advanced hydrodynamic double-chamber configuration for dependable shifting:
  • Filtration Stage: Main system line pressure keeps the internal diaphragm assembly down. The inlet port links directly to the filter bed while the drain port stays firmly sealed.
  • Backwashing Stage: When pressurized command water is fed into the lower control chamber by a pilot solenoid, the internal shaft assembly shifts upward. This action safely shuts down the primary clean water feed line while fully opening up the path to the drain manifold, forcing water backward through the filter core.

Key Features & Advantages

  • Corrosion-Resistant Plastic Body: Made from high-grade, UV-stabilized engineering polymers that resist acidic fertilizers, chlorine dosing, and harsh irrigation chemicals.
  • Short Actuator Travel Distance: Optimized internal structural mechanics mean lightning-fast flow switching and minimal clean-water wastage during transition periods.
  • Angled & Straight Configurations: Offers diverse manifold layouts to fit unique physical spacing limitations.
  • Flexible Manual Override: Features manual throttling/closing knobs on top covers to assist technicians during field testing, maintenance, and emergency manual backflushes.
  • Low Maintenance Demand: Simple top-access bolting allows quick diaphragm replacement or cleaning without cutting the valve out of the main piping infrastructure.
