Step-by-Step Construction Process
Planning & DesignBased on site conditions, catchment area, stormwater run-off volume, and groundwater levels, design the infiltration trench’s placement, layout dimensions, slope, and depth according to regional engineering standards.
Site PreparationClear the construction area of debris, obstacles, and topsoil. Perform surface grading to ensure the ground matches the specified elevation and slope requirements.
Trench ExcavationExcavate the trench according to design dimensions using suitable equipment (e.g., excavators). Maintain strict control over bottom levelling and slope gradients.
Base Course PreparationLay a uniform layer of sand or clean gravel at the bottom of the trench to create a stable, level base that facilitates even weight distribution and initial drainage.
Infiltration Core InstallationInstall the main infiltration structures (such as modular plastic infiltration blocks or precast concrete units) within the trench. Ensure all inter-block connectors and joints are securely fitted to prevent structural dislocation or unintended bypass.
Filter Layer ApplicationInstall non-woven geotextile fabric and aggregate filter media at inlet locations and around the trench core. This geotextile barrier prevents sediment, debris, and soil fines from entering and clogging the infiltration matrix.
Permeable BackfillingBackfill around the installed matrix using high-permeability aggregate material, such as crushed stone or clean gravel. This maximizes void space and optimizes lateral water percolation.
Piping & System IntegrationConnect incoming stormwater collection pipes to the infiltration system using sealed fittings to ensure a watertight junction and prevent local soil erosion.
Testing & System Sign-OffConduct a flow and percolation test before final soil capping to verify infiltration rate, system capacity, and joint integrity. Once verified, secure the surface layer and commission the system for operation.
