Key Factors for Judging Precast Drainage Channels

Quality inspection of drainage channels is critical. It determines product quality and even affects the survival of enterprises. Conducting proper quality inspection is a core task every manufacturer must prioritize. For precast drainage channels, quality inspection targets performance defects, mainly including strength, dimensional tolerance, deformation, cracks, chipped corners, etc. Common inspection methods include tapping, visual inspection, measurement and third-party testing.

Main Inspection Methods for Precast Drainage Channels

Tapping Test: Take a precast drainage channel and tap it with a hammer. If the sound is dull and muffled, it indicates insufficient product strength. If it produces a crisp, porcelain-like clanging sound, the channel enjoys good strength. This is a simple and direct method to test strength, yet it only reflects one aspect of overall quality.

Visual Inspection: Directly check surface defects such as deformation, cracks and chipped corners. Unscrupulous manufacturers may mix defective products into intact pallets, which cannot be identified from outside packaged loads. This explains why some products seem cheap at first glance but bring high costs in actual use.

Measurement: Focus on dimensional deviation. Uneven height on both sides of channel walls mostly appears in large-size products such as 300×350, while less common in regular sizes like 100×100 and 150×200. Dimensional deviation is inevitable, yet it must be limited. Deviation exceeding 2mm will make installation impossible. Manufacturers shall control tolerances within 1–2mm by optimizing raw materials and production processes.

Third-Party Testing: The most reliable way to verify quality is testing by national authoritative institutions. Three core indicators are tested: compressive strength, shrinkage rate and freeze-thaw resistance. For domestic applications, precast drainage channels are also required to feature good wear resistance, weather resistance and anti-pollution performance. Many standard clients request manufacturers to supply samples for third-party authoritative testing and select products based on test data. Judging products by objective test results should be the scientific basis for engineering procurement.
