  3. Automatic Backwash Phase: As debris accumulates, system resistance increases. Once a preset differential pressure (DP) or timer threshold is reached, the system automatically initiates a backwash cycle. Clean water is pumped in reverse (bottom-to-top) through the media, lifting and expanding the sand bed. The scouring action of the water flow releases trapped contaminants and flushes them through the wash valve. Fully automated sand filters utilize DP sensors and smart controllers to achieve self-cleaning without manual intervention.
