A water‑seal manhole is a supporting structure for rain‑sewage, chemical industry and sponge‑city pipe networks. Its core function relies on accumulated water inside the well to form a water seal barrier.
Functions
- Block flammable & explosive gases and foul odors Retain water inside the well to prevent biogas, odors and combustible gases from the downstream pipelines escaping upwards. It avoids odor leakage and stops open‑flame flashback explosions along pipelines. Widely applied in factory zones, gas stations and sewage pipe networks.
- Retain floating oil and debris Intercept oil contamination and floating waste inside the well instead of letting them flow directly into downstream pipelines. Regular desilting and cleaning protects subsequent equipment.
- Flow stabilization & preliminary sedimentation Silt and sediment partially settle inside the well to reduce pipeline silting.

Specification: 1200*1200*315*315 Water‑Seal Manhole
Key Application Notes
- Maintain sufficient effective water‑seal height, normally no less than 50 cm. The gas‑blocking function fails once the well dries out; water replenishment is required.
- For rainwater and sponge‑city projects, it is commonly installed at junctions of sewage and rainwater pipelines. Do not arbitrarily remove it and treat it as an ordinary inspection manhole.

Quick Comparison
An inspection manhole is only for maintenance access. A water‑seal manhole focuses on water‑sealing for gas isolation, oil retention and odor control.
