Zhengzhou Yayuan Technology’s High-load PP Rainwater Harvesting Modules Shipped to Zhoushan, Zhejiang, Supporting Sponge City Construction on Islands
On June 6, a batch of high-load PP rainwater harvesting modules manufactured by Zhengzhou Yayuan Rainwater Utilization Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as Zhengzhou Yayuan Technology) departed from the company’s Zhengzhou production base and headed for Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. The products will be deployed in local rainwater collection and storage projects for the sponge city initiative.
This shipment marks further expansion of Yayuan Technology’s market footprint in the eastern coastal region of China. It also delivers core technical support for Zhoushan to upgrade urban rainwater management capacity and strengthen the ecological resilience of island cities.
Specially Developed for Heavy-load Scenarios with Outstanding Product Performance
The PP modules delivered to Zhoushan feature dimensions of 1200600300mm, custom-developed by Yayuan Technology for heavy-load zones in sponge city projects including parking lots, public plazas and municipal roads.
Fabricated via one-step injection molding with polypropylene (PP) raw material, the modules boast high structural rigidity, superior load-bearing capacity, strong corrosion resistance and an extended service life. Key technical indicators are listed as follows:
- Void ratio: 90%–95%
- Single-module water storage capacity: 200L
- Bearing capacity: 50–70 tons per square meter
- Operating temperature range: -30℃ to 120℃
The wide temperature tolerance enables stable operation under diverse and harsh climatic conditions.
Compared with traditional concrete rainwater storage facilities, Yayuan PP modules present prominent advantages in flexible design, convenient construction and efficient transportation. Adopting split modular assembly design, the system allows excavation and backfilling to be completed on the same day, drastically shortening construction cycles and cutting overall project costs.
Interlocking assembly eliminates the need for large construction machinery, lowering subsequent maintenance expenses. The hollow-out structural design guarantees structural stability, while the ground surface above the underground tank can still be developed for green landscapes, plazas and parking lots without occupying above-ground space.

As a vital island city in China, Zhoushan has vigorously promoted sponge city construction in recent years as a core measure to improve urban quality, mitigate extreme weather risks and protect marine ecological environments.
Yayuan’s PP modules will be installed for the underground rainwater collection and regulation system in key zones of Project L0-15-01-05 in Zhoushan New Town. Upon completion, the system will effectively relieve urban waterlogging risks during rainy seasons. Collected rainwater will be purified and stored for urban green irrigation and road washing in dry seasons, realizing circular reuse of water resources.
